Banos is a small city in a valley surrounded by mountains and an active volcano. The last serious eruption was in the 80's. Because of the volcanic action there are thermal baths everywhere. The most popular is the Pacina de las Virgin which lies at the foot of a wonderful waterfall IN the city and just a few blocks form our hotel. The water comes is heated by the active Tungurahua volcano

The waters from these falls ae considered healing because of their rich mineral content (think about epsom salts - magnesium sulfate)
