Mass in Quito

We like to visit paces where the people of the country are going about their daily lives.  This morning we planned to visit this church because it is reported to have an amazing interior.   Hundreds of pounds of gold and very elaborate decorations.

We were delighted to discover that we arrived during a Mass.  It was of course in Spanish.  Also clearly a different liturgy that in the US.  Sanctus was sung to a guitar that one could have danced to. They still have the "Lord I am not worthy..."  older Catholics will remember and the bells at consecration.

                                                         These doors are amazing

Very slow connection adn pictures not loading in order.  There was 6 very elaborate shrines down the sides of the church.

I could have incensed our home.
